In an exclusive interview with Elmosawer, Badalona player Josurg reflected on his team’s friendly encounter with Al Ahly, praising the Egyptian giants’ physical strength, professionalism, and overall organization.
The Spanish midfielder also revealed the Al Ahly player who impressed him the most, spoke about the challenge of facing the African giants, and shared his thoughts on the club’s coaching staff and the mentality he witnessed throughout the match.
How would you assess Al Ahly’s level based on the match?
The level was very high. I felt that Al Ahly were superior, particularly in terms of physical strength. They were a very strong team, and it was a great experience for us.
Were you familiar with Al Ahly or any of their players before the match?
Yes, I knew some of the players, particularly those who had represented Egypt and Morocco at the World Cup. So I was already familiar with some of their names before the match.
Which Al Ahly player impressed you the most?
Zizo really impressed me. His quality is on another level. He was one of the players who caught my attention the most during the game.
How would you assess Badalona’s performance against Al Ahly?
I think we did well in the first half and managed to compete with them. We are a team that likes to keep possession, and we were able to exploit the spaces whenever they tried to press us.
Overall, how would you describe the experience of facing Al Ahly?
It was a great experience. They are a very professional team with a large coaching staff, and you can clearly see the level of organization and professionalism within the club.
What stood out to you most about Al Ahly’s head coach?
Their coach really impressed me. During one of the breaks, he pushed his players hard because we were causing them some problems and playing well. When they came back onto the pitch, they looked much more motivated and determined.
Did you feel you were facing a club with the mentality and structure of a top-level team?
Definitely. I’m 36 years old and I’ve experienced a lot in football, but what I saw was a very professional team and a club with the structure of a top-tier side. For me, that is something to be proud of.
Did you have any memorable interaction with a member of the Al Ahly staff?
Yes. One of the members of their coaching staff told me that I was a great player. It was a very nice gesture, and it made me really happy.
Finally, how would you sum up your experience of playing against Al Ahly?
It was a great and very valuable experience for us, both technically and physically. Al Ahly are a very strong team, and playing against a club with their experience and quality was a great opportunity for us to learn and improve.
